Job Description

Team Management

  • Manages the energy team within utilities department, coordinating activities of the engineers and technicians.

  • The energy team covers typical power infrastructure work, instrumentation and control for process mechanical, extra low voltage design covering security, ITS, ICT etc.

  • Responsibility for working with the teams leads and principals in managing the energy team.

  • Ensure effective communication of technical and business issues to all staff reporting to you, and the wider team.

  • Accountable for the performance of the energy discipline department and adherence to approved project budgets.

  • Fully accountable for the team's utilisation targets.

  • Performs various management, leadership, and people accountability responsibilities for the energy team.

  • Supports business change management initiatives (i.e., quality management, BIM, project excellence) mandated by senior leadership.

  • Recruits, trains, mentors, and evaluates the staff within the department.

Technical Delivery Management

  • Responsible for independently resolving all technical and managerial matters about the engineering issues within the energy department.

  • Must have solid understanding of power infrastructure networks (HV/MV/LV), Controls and instrumentation as well as Extra low voltage.

  • Extensive experience of working on land development projects covering master planning stages to detailed design.

  • Identifies trends, issues, and opportunities for their area of the business, industry, service line or process.

  • Conducts peer reviews, lead verifications and shares knowledge through internal technical presentations and standards development.

  • Provide high level technical expertise in terms of quantity, quality, and cost to assess whether targets have been achieved and determine where improvements and efficiencies can be achieved.

  • Can perform technical quality reviews including documentation in project record in accordance with policies and procedures and approves and signs off on work.

  • Serves as Lead Verifier (where required), confirming that the technical approach satisfies the client scope of services and expectations. Approves and signs off work.

  • Technical Coordination with Authorities for approvals of projects.

  • Leading digital transformation strategy and implementation and embracing the change within the Discipline.

  • Plans and develops engineering tasks concerned with unique or controversial problems. This involves exploration of a subject area, the definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches.

  • Excellent presentation and report writing skills. Must have experience of delivering presentations to senior personnel.

Project Management

  • Act as project manager on large and/or complex projects.

  • Drives a culture of financial responsibility ensuring maximum profitability.

  • Has solid understanding of project delivery requirements and is well versed with project management techniques.

  • Understand and apply the principles of risk and value management and use risk and value-based thinking to make project level decisions.

Business Development

  • Actively involved with clients and leads business development initiatives, participating in the preparation of major bids and proposals on the commercial and technical side.

  • Actively involved with clients and supports business development initiatives.

  • Externally recognised as a leader in one or more elements of technical discipline.

  • Applies acquired expertise and knowledge to solve business challenges and develops the technical strategy for proposals within the area of expertise.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum 17 years’ experience, with at least 10 years being in large international engineering consultancy and 5 years in technical leadership role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in electrical engineering or relevant

  • Chartered Engineer or PE
