Job Description for Facilities UPW/WWT Technician

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and perform required preventative maintenance duties including but not limited to the operation, maintenance, testing and repair of UPW (Ultra-Pure Water) and WWT (Waste Water Treatment) systems to meet the required standards of purity, quality, and facility performance.

  • Participation in the development of equipment start-up, shut-down, and preventative maintenance tasks, and procedures; provide customer satisfaction and support; must conduct work in an independent manner.

  • Excellent communication skills and proficient use of Microsoft Office and Maintenance Management programs.

  • Work well in a team environment; possess good mechanical aptitude and the ability to work safely.

  • Ability to work overtime hours as needed.

  • Maintain detailed, accurate records, and prepare necessary reports with skilled use of Microsoft Office Suite software and Maintenance Management programs.

  • Able to LOTO Equipment.

  • The ability to handle Chemical decontamination of equipment or small spills.

  • Other reasonable duties assigned.

    Job Requirements:

Minimum Requirements for Facilities UPW/WWT Technician

  • Candidates must have a minimum of 5-7 years' experience in a skilled level of mechanical maintenance OR equivalent educational and professional experience and training associated in a highly technical/engineering environment.

  • Operational experience with technical training; general understanding of various disciplines such as mechanical, electrical and control systems.

  • Experience in working with maintenance schedules, blueprints, diagrams, sketches codes and maintaining detailed and accurate records.

  • This position requires the ability to lift and push/pull 50 lbs. on a regular basis throughout the shift and frequent climbing (i.e. ascending/descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, etc.).

  • This position requires some work in adverse weather conditions and exposure to hazards (i.e. proximity to moving mechanical parts, heat, cold and noise exposure).

  • Ability to work extended hours and during planned shutdown periods. Employee must have the ability to wear a respirator as assigned and requires participation in NY CREATES hearing conservation program.

  • Possess good mechanical aptitude and be able to work safely.

  • Must be able to maintain detailed, accurate records, and prepare necessary reports with skilled use of Microsoft Office Suite software and Maintenance Management programs.

  • This position is contingent on the satisfactory completion of a background check; this position may require annual background checks.

  • This is an essential personnel position for the maintenance and operation of the campus during an emergency situation.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

Associate degree in engineering and 5+ years of experience in UPW and WWT operations, OR 10 years UPW and WWT operational experience with technical training; general understanding of all related disciplines such as device performance, electrical, chemical and waste handling (drum and bulk), scrubbers, reporting and control systems, PLC programming & operation and bulk gas system operation.

Salary Range: $27.00- $37.00/ hr

*Posted salary rates are determined upon experience and education
