Performs a variety of technical duties involved in conducting biochemical, molecular biology, small animal (mice) and immunology experiments to advance inflammation and arthritis-related research at Albany Medical College.

Job Description

  • Performs routine procedures and experiments to address research questions under the guidance of senior research technician, research laboratory manager and/or the principal investigator. Prepares culture media, chemical reagents, and solutions.

  • Maintains detailed notes and documents experimental results. Performs basic data analysis, prepares data for presentation, and presents results to the laboratory team as needed.

  • Confers with principal investigator to review work assignments and plans for research experiments. Prepares and improves existing laboratory procedures and techniques to meet research requirements/goals as required

  • Reviews laboratory methods, manuals and/or scientific literature for information needed to perform and troubleshoot research techniques and/or experiment.

  • Sets up, operates, cleans, and maintains as needed, laboratory instruments, equipment, and tools and apparatus. Offers suggestions for purchase of necessary equipment when appropriate.

  • Maintains sufficient inventory of appropriate material, supplies and equipment required for laboratory operations.

  • Molecular biology and small animal research experience preferred.
