Ford Motor Company STA Engineer in Allen Park, Michigan

Ford Performance (FP) is a small team of dedicated engineers who turn mainstream Ford vehicles into extraordinary performance machines. We are looking for an engineer with prior manufacturing experience and a strong quality background to be the ”everything STA” resource for the Ford Performance Car program team and our SVTNA STA organization.

Ideal candidates for this position will have experience with Program, Core, and Site STA functions, as well as strong technical and relationship building skills. Assessing and mitigating supply and quality risks with our supplier partners will be critical for success. Significant collaboration with the Ford Performance PD and program management teams will be required. This role demands excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a passion for teamwork, collaboration, and technical excellence.

What you will do

  • Be the subject matter expert on all things STA for the Ford Performance car team:

  • Program – Assist the FP program mgt team with APQP / PPAP status on Ford Performance s650 variants (this will be the primary function leading up to MY26.5 launch)

  • Core – Use standard core STA tools to vet and develop both new suppliers and technologies for potential addition to SVTNA

  • Site –Engineer for the car-centric supplier sites in SVTNA

  • Collaborate with suppliers and FP product development engineers during development and validation phases to ensure robust DFM execution

  • Utilize core tools to deliver robust supplier performance across a variety of commodities and their manufacturing processes

  • Commodities: Body Exterior, Chassis, Interior, Powertrain

  • Processes: Stamping / Joining, Casting / Forging / Machining, Plastics / Composites, General Assembly

  • Support Flat Rock Assembly Plant and FP resident PVT functions during launch and production

  • Drive warranty improvement activities within the SVTNA supply base

  • Advocate for our suppliers, uphold Ford behaviors, and further partnerships for the long term

You will have

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering

  • 7+ years plant floor manufacturing experience in a quality / manufacturing engineering role

  • 7+ years STA experience, primarily Site

  • Extensive and superior knowledge of APQP/PPAP deliverables, with particular emphasis on failure mode avoidance

  • Demonstrated ability to apply first principles concepts to “never been there before” situations

  • Familiarity with culture & expectations of Ford Plants, particularly with appearance parts

  • A passion for performance vehicles, have a can-do / results-driven attitude & be able to maintain positive working relationships across multiple corporate cultures

  • High degree of self-motivation and willingness to commit extra effort to get the job done

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to travel 35%

  • 15+ years Ford plant experience

This position is a range of salary grades 6, 7 and 8.
