Unit Leader Professional Liability – Allied Healthcare

We are currently searching for a highly skilled and experienced individual to lead our entry into the Allied Healthcare E&O Market. This market specifically covers healthcare professional liability for Allied Health/Miscellaneous Medical.

In this role, you be responsible for developing a comprehensive strategy, creating a strong product offering, implementing a go-to-market plan to drive growth, and building out a strong wholesale distribution network.

As an integral part of our professional liability leadership team, the Unit Leader Professional Liability – Allied Healthcare will play a vital role in identifying and nurturing new opportunities for growth within the Allied Healthcare sector.

You will also be accountable for shaping the strategic direction of our portfolio by clearly defining our interests and establishing solid relationships within the wholesale distribution networks.

Additionally, as Unit Leader Professional Liability – Allied Healthcare, you will be a visible thought leader, staying ahead of market trends and ensuring exceptional underwriting performance, all while building and leading a highly efficient team of Underwriters.

Candidate Profile

The perfect candidate for Unit Leader Professional Liability – Allied Healthcare position should have extensive direct experience in leading and building a successful Allied Healthcare practice for a top-tier insurance carrier. They should also have a proven history of developing and guiding underwriting talent, as well as building and maintaining relationships with distribution partners.

Furthermore, this person should possess a comprehensive grasp of underwriting fundamentals, policy structures, and product design. This expertise will enable them to efficiently apply underwriting approaches across diverse healthcare sectors. Notably, this leader must have a proven track record in developing and implementing policies, forms, underwriting guidelines, marketing initiatives, and distribution channels.

In addition to their technical expertise, the ideal candidate should also have a strong executive presence, with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, influence others, and establish relationships that contribute to long-term strategic goals. They should have the ability to inspire and lead a team of experts.

Responsibilities

  • In partnership with Leadership establish an Allied Healthcare underwriting methodology to grow the market successfully and sustainably.

  • Implement underwriting strategies including price adequacy, coverage, and portfolio class elements.

  • Drive and align profitability, growth, and efficiencies with the organization's goals and distribution objectives.

  • Build, Manage and lead the underwriting team, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure team members are meeting their goals and objectives.

  • Establishing overall direction and strategic initiatives for Allied Healthcare vertical solutions, including identification of new coverages and product development.

  • Drive brand awareness and affinity by providing thought leadership and insight into emerging risks, trends and opportunities to the marketplace and brokers.

  • Research competitors and market conditions to develop and maintain risk selection criteria and methods that support sound underwriting risk management.

  • Work closely with the enterprise leadership to identify growth opportunities and develop new business relationships.

  • Build and maintain relationships with key partners and stakeholders, including brokers, agents, and reinsurers.

  • Oversee the development and implementation of underwriting policies and procedures, ensuring they are up-to-date and effective.

  • Monitor underwriting performance and provide regular reports to senior management, identifying areas for improvement and taking corrective action when necessary.

  • Collaborate with other departments, including actuarial, claims, and finance, to ensure a cohesive and effective approach to underwriting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree: advanced degree preferred.

  • Direct technical underwriting background in the Allied Healthcare

  • Direct background in national or regional leadership roles

  • Direct background in establishing and supporting growth of a national portfolio of Professional Liability

  • Direct success establishing and expanding wholesale distribution relationship.

  • Direct Background leading and driving product development and market segmentation strategies and tactics.

  • Market awareness of current state dynamics and complexities, and how the macro environment can be synthesized into the AXIS strategy.

  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data.

  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.

  • Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders.

For this position, we expect to offer a base salary in the range of USD 200K - 275K. The specific salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors, including the experience of the successful candidate and their work location. In addition, all employees are eligible for competitive incentive targets, with awards based on overall corporate and individual performance.
