Job Description:

The CDM Smith International Development Group is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical/I&C Engineer to lead the planning and design for the implementation of the operating technology digital transformation for the Water Sector in Jordan. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering in the water and wastewater sector with a background in Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, with a proven track record of managing projects and leading teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the planning and design for the implementation of the operating technology digital transformation for the Water Sector in Jordan including:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact with the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, USAID, and the water utilities,

  • Collaborate closely with senior BWI and CDM Smith project staff, including key subcontractors, local personnel, and both local and international consultants/subcontractors, as well as other stakeholders. Manage and mentor junior and mid-level reporting engineers

  • Serve as the local lead for the processes of project planning and design for implementation, and reporting.

  • Closely coordinate with international subject matter experts.

  • Design and/or oversee electrical systems for the water and wastewater sector.

  • Create basic to moderately complex designs of electrical power systems.

  • Perform studies of power systems and electrical calculations for electrical systems, and other similar calculations.

  • Perform site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications. Update design requirements as necessary.

  • Provide support to oversee the construction managers for the installation and configuration of electrical systems and SCADA infrastructure for the water and renewable energy systems.

  • Provide permitting coordination support with the electrical utilities to secure power connections to projects.

  • Lead and manage a team of engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure project success.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.

  • Provide technical expertise and support during project planning, design, execution, and commissioning phases.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering and SCADA systems in the water and wastewater sector.

• Familiar with industry and Jordanian electrical codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, IEC, BS, etc.)

• Proven experience in project management and team leadership.

• Good knowledge of SCADA systems, including design and implementation. Experience working in Jordan/ Middle East or other locations considered emergent nations or regions.

• Proficiency in electrical system design, analysis, and troubleshooting.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Good interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

• Demonstrated capabilities to lead diverse, multidisciplinary teams while playing a key role in local capacity building

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Must be fluent in spoken and written English.

• Must be fluent in Arabic; a native Arabic speaker is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

• PMP is preferred or willingness to become certified within one year of project commencement.

• Proven experience on projects funded by international financing institutions
