St. Mary's Healthcare Coordinator- Phlebotomy in Amsterdam, New York
Job Requisition: REQ3475 Employment Type: Full-Time Shift: Days, Some weekends required. Hours Per Week: 40 hours
Hiring Range : $23.46-$30.50
The actual compensation for this position will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
Responsibilities:
•Participates in multidisciplinary meetings or committees addressing issues and implementation of new services for assigned areas. •Ensures staff compliance with departmental and organizational policies, procedures and protocols. •Performs functions for the phlebotomy department to include, but not limited to hiring, evaluations, time-card management, inventory, ordering, and first level disciplinary actions. •Conducts hiring, training, directing, development and evaluation of staff. This includes, but is not limited to routine phlebotomy. •Performs all duties of Staff Phlebotomist. May work at main location or off sites, and may receive or send specimens. •Ensures specimens are properly prepared and packed for shipment to St. Mary’s Reference Laboratory. •May review EOC Audits from St. Mary’s Off-site Phlebotomy Services. •Inpatient and Outpatient Phlebotomy Coordinators work collaboratively to maintain staff scheduling and adequate coverage of lead function duties.

Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Preferred Credential(s): •Certification specializing in Phlebotomy credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) preferred. •Phlebotomy Tech. Certification Excellent Customer Service/People Skills
Education: •High school diploma/GED •Must be able to speak, read, write and follow instructions in English.
Work Experience: •5 year of phlebotomy experience required serving a diverse community from inpatient to outpatient settings, and patients from newborn to geriatric. •Some supervisory experience helpful but not required.
