Responsibilities*
Evaluation and management of adults with communication and swallowing disorders in an academic university hospital acute care
Opportunities for increasingly complex diagnostic work, including completion of outpatient videofluoroscopic swallow studies and fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallow studies
Documentation of clinical findings, adhering to regulatory agency and insurance requirements
Education of patients and families regarding communication and swallowing disorders
Required Qualifications*
M.A. or M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology
ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence
Michigan Licensure for state of Michigan licensure
Progressively complex experience with the assessment and treatment of speech, language, voice, resonance, cognitive-communicative and swallowing disorders.
Excellent or strong communication skills, verbal and written
Ability to work effectively with medical and allied health professionals within an interdisciplinary team
Not a clinical fellowship year (CFY) position
Desired Qualifications*
Previous experience in an acute care hospital
Ability to perform and interpret videofluoroscopic swallowing studies

Union Affiliation
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
