Maintenance and Facilities Technician

Under the general supervision of the Community Enrichment Director, performs manual labor by performing general maintenance and upkeep to Civic Center, Aquatic Center, and library. Janitorial duties such as emptying trash barrels, cleaning restrooms, Setting up event spaces, and minor repairs to facilities are all expected of this position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Complete general maintenance and repair of building structures and their mechanical, electrical, and sanitary systems through the department
• Complete maintenance of grounds including lawns, trees, irrigation and large debris.
• Regularly inspect building exterior and interior, perform maintenance and minor repairs, make recommendations on larger repair items.
• Detect and report needed major repairs on building structures and their systems, including lockers, furniture, and equipment throughout department.
• Complete repairs as requested on work orders or by the director.
• Complete relocation of furnishings, such as desks, tables, chairs, file cabinets, etc.
• Complete calls for hanging pictures, mirrors, blackboards, bulletin boards, projection screens, towel dispensers, soap dispensers, and other items as requested.
• Complete regular preventive maintenance on all HVAC equipment in the department.
• Maintain logs on preventive maintenance schedules and completions.
• Clean and maintain restrooms by restocking supplies and disinfecting areas.
• Set up/take down chairs, tables, dance floors, stages, etc. for meetings and events.
• Ensure meeting rooms are cleaned, neat and orderly before and after meetings.
• Maintains inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies and re-stocks as needed.
• Notifies supervisor when additional supplies are needed.
• May be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be able to understand English and read chemical cleaning labels, and operation manuals for safety precautions.

Previous work experience is required.

Work requires general knowledge in building custodial and maintenance and the use of hand tools and equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work is labor intensive Required to exert up to 50 lbs. regularly.

Required to lift, hold and carry tools and equipment.

Required to sit, stand, reach, twist, walk, bend and kneel to perform duties.

Required to work on uneven surfaces, climb ladders

May be required to work nights and weekends
