Lockheed Martin Sheet Metal Operator in Archbald, Pennsylvania
Description: Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control team is looking for a Sheet Metal Operator to join the Archbald, PA team. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Calculates bend allowances and flat pattern development of sheet metal parts
Performs basic setups and operates many standard types of sheet metal fabricating machines such as CNC lasers, brakes, shears, rolls, punch and drill presses, sanders, and various hand tools
Installs hardware such as inserts, rivets, standoffs, gaskets, nameplates, and other mechanical components in sheet metal and machined parts using pneumatic,
hydraulic, electric, and hand tools and machinery, including riveters, fasteners, setters, presses, spot
welders, grinders, Helicoil installation tools, etc.
Performs sheet metal/machine shop general laborer tasks including but not limited to grinding/sanding weldments using portable and stationary pneumatic tools, straightening bent and twisted parts/assemblies using manual jacks and hydraulic presses, washing
parts/assemblies in aqueous and ultrasonic machines, assist painters with prep work, sand/shot blasting steel weldments
Performs necessary hand operations, such as filing, scraping, straightening, mechanical assembly etc.
Uses various types of hand tools, such as files, hammers, scrapers, wrenches, etc.; and various measuring instruments such as plug gages, snap gages, indicators, verniers, micrometers, depth gages, etc.
Interprets CAD data, prints and sketches and can follow written manufacturing instructions (MI's) and/or verbal instructions
Performs minor preventive maintenance to equipment
Reports equipment problems to supervisor
Works in time-critical situations in a dynamic, team-oriented environment where programs, setups, and tooling are constantly changing and interact effectively with associates & management as priorities shift
Performs other job-related duties as required by stakeholders
Maintains workstation/cell in organized manner and in compliance with any applicable safety standards
Receives and, when assigned, provides cross-training for other tasks related to department functions and procedures
Physical condition allowing:
a. Lifting 50 pounds
b. Standing, sitting, bending, walking, 10+ hours per day
c. Personal protective equipment including Steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, and wearing a respirator when required
Adheres to safety guidelines and the correct procedures for performing tasks to prevent personal injury or damage to product and/or equipment
Able to support a flexible work schedule including alternate shifts, overtime, off-Fridays and/or weekends to support product schedules as required
Basic Qualifications:
Basic Machine Shop Technology training or related job experience
Knowledge of basic shop math (metric conversion and arithmetic)
Proficient using hand tools for burr removal and metal finishing
Ability to use various types of measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and thickness measuring equipment
Can read and understand complex blueprints and sketches with respect to various assembly and metals forming and differentiation between thread sizes, pitch, metric and standard threads
Desired Skills:
Able to program a CNC punch press, laser cutter, and CNC press brake
Chemical conversion processes such as aluminum chromate conversion
CNC machining experience
Operated PEM machines, CNC Punch Presses, Laser Cutters, Spot welder, Tapping machines and vertical drill presses
Painting processes include powder and wet coat painting and marking

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
