ARPA-H – Senior AI/ML Support
Amentum is looking for experienced personnel to expand our healthcare technology development support capabilities at the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H).
Founded in 2022, ARPA-H is a Federal research funding agency that supports transformative biomedical and health breakthroughs – ranging from the molecular to the societal – to provide health solutions for all. ARPA-H advances high-potential, high-impact biomedical and health research that cannot be readily accomplished through traditional research or commercial activity to develop solutions to society's most challenging health problems.
Specifically, we are seeking talented individuals with expertise in machine learning and natural language processing for the following roles:
AI/ML Engineer: Develop and implement cutting-edge AI/ML models for healthcare applications, with a focus on natural language processing and its application to ARPA-H's mission.
Research Scientist: Conduct research and development in the areas of language modeling, statistical or key-phrase extraction, and medical applications of NLP.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement AI/ML models for healthcare applications
Conduct research and development in NLP and related areas
Analyze data, conduct experiments, and evaluate model performance
Collaborate with government and industry partners to advance health technology initiatives
Provide technical expertise and support to ARPA-H programs
Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and conferences
Minimum Requirements:
PhD in Biosystems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related scientific field
8+ years of relevant experience
Extensive experience in machine learning and natural language processing
Strong understanding of NLP techniques and algorithms
Experience with data analysis and model development
Excellent programming skills (e.g. Python)
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust US Government Clearance.Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
Preferred Experience:
Experience in computational replication
Experience in language modeling, statistical or key-phrase extraction, and medical applications of NLP
Familiarity with healthcare data and terminologies
ARPA-H, NIH, or other federal grant program experience
Experience working with ARPA-H
Experience as a Principal Investigator in a research study
Expertise in the acquisition of new programs, solicitations, and contracting actions
Other ARPA agency (DARPA, IARPA, ARPA-E, etc.) experience
National Institute of Health (NIH), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), or Department of Defense (DoD) experience
Experience in a R&D environment
The ARPA-H campus is located in McPherson Square in Washington DC. Hybrid and telework options are likely but residence within Washington, DC metropolitan area is desired.
