Position Summary

Morehouse School of Medicine Center, Maternal Health Equity seeks a full-time Assistant Director for our center’s activities to provide support for all training programs to the Center for Maternal Health Equity.

The Director of Community Engagement is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that foster positive relationships between the organization and the community. This role involves working with various stakeholders to promote community involvement, increase public awareness, and support the organization’s mission and goals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Social Work, Psychology or a related field

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in community engagement, public relations, or a related field.

  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful community engagement strategies.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Education:

  • Master’s Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Public Relations, Communications, Social Work, Psychology or related field) from a regionally accredited college or university.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in research project management, preferably in a leadership or supervisory role.

  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in quantitative and/or qualitative research methods.

  • Proficiency in statistical analysis software, data visualization tools, and research software applications.

  • Familiarity with research ethics, compliance, and regulatory requirements.

  • Knowledge of funding opportunities and grant writing experience is desirable.

Job Duties

Description of Job Duty

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build strong relationships with community leaders, local organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders.

  • Represent the organization at community events, public meetings, and other forums to promote the organization’s initiatives.

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for community inquiries and concerns

Program Development and Management:

  • Design and oversee community programs and events that support the organization’s goals.

  • Collaborate with internal departments to integrate community engagement efforts across the organization.

  • Manage budgets and resources allocated for community engagement activities.

Volunteer Management:

  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to support community engagement programs.

  • Develop and maintain a volunteer database and track volunteer participation and impact.

  • Research and Reporting:

  • Conduct research on community needs, trends, and best practices in community engagement.

  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior management and board meetings on community engagement activities and outcomes.

Strategic Planning and Execution:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive community engagement strategy that aligns with the organization’s mission, vision, and values.

  • Identify and prioritize key community issues and opportunities for engagement.

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community engagement initiatives and adjust strategies as needed.

Communications and Public Relations:

  • Develop and execute communication plans to keep the community informed about the organization’s activities and initiatives.

  • Create content for newsletters, social media, press releases, and other communication channels.

  • Work with the marketing team to ensure consistent messaging and branding in community outreach efforts.

Immunization Requirements

It is MSM’s Immunization policy that all Prospective Employees are required to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID -19 prior to commencement of employment. If employment will commence during Flu Season, MSM requires all individuals to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless granted an exemption. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain an exemption from MSM will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
