    Location: College Park and West Midtown offices

    Work Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00am – 5:00pm

    Job Type: Full-time

    Your Impactful Role

  • Escort patients to the exam area and prepare them for examinations.

  • Conduct interviews to determine medical problems/conditions and document in the e-chart.

  • Obtain and record vital signs and weight.

  • Assist with physician's orders, lab requests, or follow-up needs.

  • Collect samples (urine, blood) for testing and perform routine laboratory tests.

  • Obtain patient history and order x-rays.

  • Schedule diagnostic studies/surgery and prepare for injections/aspirations.

  • Provide patients with educational materials regarding diagnosis, self-care, and mobility.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards regarding bloodborne pathogens.

  • Coordinate work-in appointments and schedule pre/post-op appointments

  • Serve as a liaison between patients and physicians, coordinating consultations with other healthcare professionals.

  • Complete applications for handicap parking permits, FMLA, disability forms, and work excuses

  • Document all aspects of visits to Athena, ensuring 'Meaningful Use' criteria are met.

  • Manage patient phone calls (clinical) and provide proper documentation of actions taken/advice given.

    Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program preferred.

  • Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Registered Orthopaedic Technologist (ROT), Orthopaedic Technologist Certified (OTC), Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC), or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

  • American Heart Association's Certification - BLS Certified

  • One-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Urgent Care experience a plus.

    Physical Demands and Work Conditions: The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The work environment is usually moderate in noise level.
