Transportation Engineer II:Performs complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations, and/or maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.Transportation Engineer III:Performs advanced and complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations, and/or maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence..Essential Duties:Transportation Engineer II:Assist with development of processes, procedures, and pilots for design, construction, hydraulics, environmental, bridge, traffic, letting, etc. for TxDOT's Digital Delivery Program.Develops, recommends, and implements modifications as necessary for continual improvement to existing program of responsibility.Performs complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts.Assists project managers to establish realistic and achievable schedule baselines.Assists with design, computer operations and plan preparation.Interprets the Utility Accommodation Policy.Performs and/or documents in-house research studies.Provides technical expertise in planning, coordinating, maintaining and operating traffic management systems TxDOT's transportation system.Performs advanced and complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts.Assists with design, computer operations and plan preparation.Drives/travels to project/work locations to make on-site engineering reviews, analyses, tests and to provide technical support.Evaluates the performance of new transportation products software.Interprets maintenance standards, rules, methods, procedures, practices and policies.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. Transportation Engineer III:All the Above and:Oversees construction project traffic control plans; periodically reviews traffic control devices with Area Engineers.Provides design engineering support for districts in project development.Assesses and reports actual project progress versus planned progress to determine trends and variances for complex projects.Assists with design, computer operations and plan preparation.Makes presentations and represents TxDOT.Acts as consultant to staff engineers to coordinate construction operations
