The mission of the Division for Blind (DBS) is to work in partnership with Texans who are blind or visually impaired to reach their goals. The Food Service Manager II is hired by and reports to the Food Service Supervisor and performs moderately complex food preparation work and trains students to do the same. Provides services to students and staff that promote the Texas Confidence Builder's philosophy, facilitating empowerment through assisting students to achieve emotional adjustment, mastery of alternative skills, ability to cope with the sighted world and the ability to blend into society.

This position is 100% in-person and is located at 4800 N. Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX, 78756.

Performs moderately complex (journey-level) food service supervisory work. Work under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Possesses stamina to work standing for the majority of each work shift. Participates in an extended blindfold-immersion training program.

GENERAL DUTIES: -Assists supervisor in training staff on new equipment or procedures -Oversees others and directly performing the planning, preparing, seasoning, and cooking of food, and training students to do the same -Maintains inventories and records of food consumption -Makes recommendations for improvement of current systems and implementation of new systems. - Performs other duties as assi ned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: -Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is generally preferred plus one year of experience in food service work. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
