Introduction

watsonx Code Assistant is an exciting new offering from IBM that strives to revolutionize enterprise software development with Generative AI. We need your expertise, your motivation and your collaboration to take watsonx Code Assistant to the next level. As a backend developer, you will be responsible for designing and developing the microservices "behind" watsonx Code Assistant that interact with our Large Language Models.

Your role and responsibilities

· As a senior software developer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing new features and providing guidance to other developers

· You ensure high standards of code quality through regular code reviews, automated testing, and adherence to coding standards

· You communicate skill progress, challenges, and technical decisions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

· You are detail-oriented and take ownership of building a product that you are proud to share with others

· You identify and implement improvements in development processes, tools, and methodologies to increase team efficiency and product quality

· Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, contributing to sprint planning, daily stand-

ups, and retrospectives to ensure project alignment and continuous delivery.

Required technical and professional expertise

· 6+ years of experience as a software developer

· Strong Java programming and software architecture skills

· Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills

· Proficient with data structures and tackling difficult algorithmic problems

· Proven experience with IDE plugin development with either IntelliJ, VSCode or Eclipse

· Exposure to code parsing tools like Tree-sitter

· Familiarity with Language Server Protocol

Preferred technical and professional experience

· Frontend development using JavaScript frameworks, React, Typescript and Node.js

· Exposure to other coding assistants

· Experience working with AI / ML models including Large Language Models
