Overview

The Agency of Transportation (AOT) is seeking a Technician to work in the Property Management Section as the lead for reviewing projects proposed by municipalities, state agencies, businesses and the general public that will traverse or cross our active railroad rights of way or airports. The incumbent will provide site inspections during projects and confirm compliance in how the project is constructed. The position will work with entities wanting to lease property from VTrans that is within the right of way of an active rail line or on an airport to determine layout, compliance with safety areas, evaluate risks and investigate any complaints about the use of these properties. Enforcement could require coordination with legal staff, municipalities, human service entities, contractors, and others as the situation dictates.

Additionally, the Technician will collect site data such as dimensions, conflicts and use and provide it to property management team members to complete agreements as needed. Work with contractors to have work done on state owned Amtrak stations for things like snow removal, heating fuel and site maintenance. Incumbent shall act as resident engineer responsible for oversight of one or more simple to moderate projects.
