Job Responsibilities

1. To wash and disinfect live production facilities in a safe and organized manner, ensuring that all company policies are followed

2. Assist all support areas of live production

3. Work every other weekend replacing Farm managers and or washing unless otherwise instructed

4. Perform repairs, maintenance on equipment, and construction on projects as assigned by the supervisor

5. Follow all sanitation and isolation procedures as recommended

6. Communicate with supervisor on a regular basis to receive work orders as needed

7. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

8. This position has the possibility of progression to Farm Operator with a Grade 5 pay.

Minimum Qualifications

• Basic math skills/able to read and write at 4th grade level/able to work scheduled weekends and holidays

• Supply reliable transportation for travel to work sites/able to meet all sanitation requirements

• Cannot own or raise any type of fowl (i.e. turkeys, chickens, geese, pheasants, parakeets, etc.)

• Must possess a valid driver's license and able to meets JOTS driving qualifications

• Able to work in a smoke free environment with ammonia present in all weather conditions while using approved respiratory protection/facial hair must not compromise respirator face to mask seal- no beards.

• Twisting, stooping, bend, squat, lift, carry and reach while handling turkeys, feed, litter and equipment ranging from 10 - 50 pounds from occasionally to a frequent basis. Must be able to work on uneven surfaces and able to drive a manual transmission.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Previous animal husbandry experience and/or a farm background (two years)

• Bobcat tractor experience

• Ability to use and operate a high pressure washer

• Small engine/pump repair experience

At Hormel Foods, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The hiring pay range for this role is $20.90, 6 months $21.25, 1 year $22.30 per hour.
