Kelly Services Culinary Specialist/ Chemist in Bartlett, Illinois

Kelly Science & Clinical is seeking a Food Chemist near Bartlett, IL.

Direct Hire

Shift: Monday - Friday 8am-5pm

Compensation: based on experience

Are you passionate about culinary innovation and eager to bring exciting new food products to market? We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Food Product Development Chemist to join our team. In this role, you'll lead the charge in creating, refining, and launching innovative food products that delight our customers and set us apart in the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Culinary Expertise: Stay ahead of the curve by continuously expanding your knowledge of kitchen operations, ingredients, supplies, and food preparation techniques.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Marketing and Supply Chain teams to ensure product development aligns with our strategic goals and objectives.

  • Product Commercialization: Develop gold standard products in collaboration with vendor partners, driving them through to successful commercialization.

  • Operational Excellence: Lead by example, promoting best-in-class behaviors with a focus on operational excellence and quality assurance.

  • Process Implementation: Plan and implement operational procedures, processes, and systems to streamline product development and ensure consistency.

  • Innovation & Concept Development: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, production, and quality assurance, to bring innovative food concepts to life.

  • Market Research & Trend Analysis: Conduct market research, analyze consumer feedback, and stay up-to-date with industry trends to ensure our products remain competitive.

  • New Product Development: Drive the development of new food products from concept to launch, ensuring they meet quality and safety standards.

  • Product Improvement: Continuously improve existing products based on consumer feedback and market trends.

  • Project Management: Create and manage product development projects, including timelines, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Sensory Evaluation: Conduct sensory evaluations and product testing to ensure products meet our high standards.

  • Stakeholder Presentation: Present new product concepts to stakeholders, showcasing their potential impact on the market.

  • Supplier Collaboration: Work with suppliers to source new ingredients and materials, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.

  • Industry Engagement: Participate in trade shows and industry events to stay connected with key industry partners and trends.

  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously seek ways to improve product development processes, ensuring efficiency and innovation.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Culinary Arts, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in product development, particularly with Mexican and Asian cuisine.

  • Proficiency in knife skills, food preparation, recipe documentation, gram work, and cleaning.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with the team.

  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify potential risks and opportunities.

  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of discretion and confidentiality.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.

  • Experience with market research and consumer analysis.

  • A deep passion for food and culinary innovation.
