Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Three years of experience in economic research or development, financial services, international relations, marketing, or real estate; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR
A bachelor's degree.

FUNCTION OF WORK:
To foster business development in Louisiana by attracting businesses into the state, growing and retaining existing businesses, encouraging the creation of new businesses, and/or administering business incentive programs.
LEVEL OF WORK:
Entry.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Close from a Business Development Supervisor or higher-level division administrator. On a project basis, from a Business Development Officer of a higher-level.

None.
LOCATION OF WORK:
Department of Economic Development.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from Business Development Officer 2 by the degree of supervision received and the performance of duties in a training capacity.
Examples of Work

Facilitates the expansion, retention and diversification of Louisiana-based manufacturers, other industries and small businesses through the utilization of incentives and other business development programs and remains in close, continuing contact with these industries before, during and after project completion.
Oversees proposals to companies on sites, infrastructure, buildings and incentives for recruitment and expansion projects.
Serves as coordinator or administrator of a specific business incentive program such as Industrial Tax Equalization, Corporate Headquarters Tax Equalization, Industry Assistance, Transportation Equalization, Louisiana Capital Companies Tax Credit Program, Enterprise Zone, Restoration Tax Abatement, Biomedical Research and Development, and University Research and Development programs.
Provides business advice and direction to prospective borrowers concerning LEDC lending assistance programs.
Identifies state agency procurement needs that can be satisfied by socially and economically disadvantaged locally-owned businesses, and enables them to obtain bids and perform satisfactorily as contractors.
Plans and conducts regional and community training, educational and informational programs.
Reviews and processes applications for incentives; makes recommendations to the Director of the Governor's Office of Film & Television Development.
Assists with the coordination of all major film and television productions in the state.
