Location Description Post Consumer Brands in Battle Creek, Mich., the cereal capital of the U.S., is the company's largest manufacturing plant and home to about 600 team members. When you join the team here, you'll be helping to produce some of the most iconic cereal brands, including Honey Bunches of Oats cereal, PEBBLES cereal, Grape-Nuts and Honeycomb cereal. The Battle Creek plant is also unique as it is home to the original barn where C.W. Post started the Postum cereal company in 1895. The Battle Creek team has deep community roots, supporting the city's Cereal Festival, local elementary schools, and hosting several on-site volunteer events throughout the year. Responsibilities Position Overview: As a CDLA Driver PCB Trucks team member, the successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating commercial vehicles, including tractor-trailers, in accordance with both state and federal regulations. This role demands the highest level of driving skill, integrity, and professionalism, ensuring that all duties are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with MDOT and PCB commercial vehicle policies and procedures. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure compliance with all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations relating to the operation of a commercial motor vehicle. Comply with hours-of-service regulations. Perform proper pre-trip inspections as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. The vehicle inspection is completed daily for each vehicle operated ensuring tractor and trailer are in safe operating condition. Loading/unloading freight as needed using necessary equipment including PIT. Utilizing site software to properly prioritize and document moves. Communicate all variances promptly so the company can take corrective action as needed. Complete all paperwork accurately and submit it promptly. Must be courteous, cooperative and respectful at all times. Expected to adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained in order to maintain SQF certification. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety. Perform proper fueling of tractor units. Perform proper vehicle cleanliness and washing. Seasonal duties include salting parking lots and minor snow plowing. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Education and Experience Required:
Minimum Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age. Valid CDLA License: A valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDLA) is required for this position. CDLA Medical Examination: Ability to pass a CDL medical examination as required. Substance and Alcohol Testing: Must adhere to PCB’s substance and alcohol testing policies. Motor Vehicle Record: Applicants must consent to PCB retrieving a copy of their motor vehicle driving record (MVR). Drug and Alcohol Consortium: Agreement to release drug and alcohol information from the Drug and Alcohol Consortium. Basic Literacy and Numeracy: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, memos, and short correspondence. Additionally, must have the ability to write simple correspondence. Basic Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Must also be capable of handling measurements related to American currency, weight, volume, and distance. Problem-Solving Abilities: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form and to solve problems in standardized situations with multiple variables. Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Certification: Must have the ability to obtain Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Certification as part of the role. Experience: A minimum of 2+ years of experience operating tractor-trailers, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. Additional Requirements: Physical Ability: Ability to lift and handle objects weighing up to 50 lbs. safely. Ability to exit and enter vehicle multiple times a day. Environmental Conditions: Must be able to work in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures ranging from below freezing to over 100°F. Must be comfortable working outdoors for extended periods of time and performing tasks in dusty environments. A review of CSA (Compliance, Safety, Accountability) scores will be required prior to employment. Must successfully pass the 180-day probationary period.
