Purpose/Introduction

This position is responsible for the receiving of plant samples and accurate and timely performance of laboratory testing and reporting. Other job duties include routine maintenance, quality assurance/quality control activities and communicating with all levels of plant operations along with other non-testing activities as required.

Responsibilities

⦁ Performs work in compliance with all safety, environmental, and health regulations

⦁ Performs work in compliance with the Lab’s Quality Manual and any site quality management systems

⦁ Maintain proficiency in required laboratory test methods

⦁ Proficient in adhering to and executing Lab Standard Operating Procedures

⦁ Performs a high volume of routine tests with a short turnaround time

⦁ Regularly gathers data for charts, records, and reports

⦁ Verifies calibration of laboratory instruments and equipment

⦁ Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs laboratory instruments and equipment

⦁ Communicates quality issues with operating units and other customers

⦁ Safeguards all laboratory test results

⦁ Uses StarLIMS (LIMS)

⦁ Monitors the inventory of essential laboratory supplies

⦁ Conducts analyses of data to validate and assess the performance of test methods

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering or science related field

• High level of personal integrity, professionalism, and a team-oriented approach

• Self-starter with minimal need for supervision after on-the-job training

• Ability to perform multiple and frequent tasks with a high level of focus and attention to detail

• Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain highly specialized instruments/equipment and software

• Excellent communication skills

• Excellent time management and organizational skills

• Ability to work a 12hr rotating shift schedule including nights, holidays, weekends, and over-time if necessary

• Ability to act in accordance with established safety guidelines and processes

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field

• At least 2 years of experience in a laboratory setting

• Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)

• Experience with instrument control software

• Experience in ASTM and ISO 9001 quality systems

• Experience with Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
