The Vermont Department of Health may have the right position for you!We are currently seeking a Public Health Nutritionist to be a part of a multidisciplinary team in our local public health office and provide nutritional counseling to a wide range of individuals and community partners. Our Public Health Nutritionist delivers prenatal and postpartum support and nutrition education to families in our Women, Infants and Children (WIC) supplemental nutrition program and works collaboratively with other public health staff on community outreach, education and partnership to support local health promotion initiatives. Our Public Health Nutritionist also plays a critical role in helping us achieve our mission of healthy Vermonters living in healthy communities. As a team member of the Department of Health, the Public Health Nutritionist has a critical role in public health emergency preparedness and will receive training to support communities during emergencies that threaten public health. Environmental Factors

Duties primarily performed in public health organization set ting or in outlying service sites.

Travel to outlying sites will require a driver\'s license. Private means of transportation may be required.

Occasional travel to statewide trainings required. Potential travel in difficult weather conditions.

There is considerable interaction with staff, clients and the general public. At times of public health emergencies (floods, infectious disease outbreaks, etc.) individuals may be expected to assist. Physical demands vary with the position; generally limited to carrying equipment needed to conduct clinic and education activities. Employees work with a variety of clients and may have contact with potentially dangerous and combative individuals as well as a wide variety of illnesses. Certain functions may require duty outside of normal work hours.
