Orbital Engineering, Inc. in Bensalem, PA has a work-at-home Civil/Structural Engineering Department Manager position (with the ability to telecommute with appropriate telecommuting systems; the remote worksite must be within commuting distance of Bensalem, PA for weekly trips to the corporate office) to be responsible for providing technical and project execution oversight for various projects. Specific duties include: (i) overseeing execution of all activities of the department, including scheduling, organizing, directing, and reviewing all department resources and activities; (ii) hiring staff, establishing individual goals and expectations, and conducting performance reviews; (iii) establishing and executing operational plans for the department with respect to routine, tools, and resources to ensure consistent operations and growth of skill sets; (iv) serving as Project Manager and/or Senior Engineer on specific projects as required; (v) preparing and supervising preparation of single or multidiscipline engineering proposals including development of scopes of work, project schedules, and cost estimates; (vi) preparing, reviewing, and/or checking engineering calculations, designs, drawings, and other project documents related to this specific discipline on projects as required; (vii) certifying and PE-sealing various designs, drawings, and documents as required; (viii) developing, maintaining, and upgrading technical standards/specifications to be used on specific projects, as well as centralized design basis and historical references; (ix) providing enhanced customer support as a technical liaison; and (x) ensuring all department operational and project activities are completed in accordance with Orbital's Project Management system through implementation and enforcement of stated policies and requirements.

Must have a bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field plus six (6) years of post-baccalaureate, progressively responsible engineering experience in a related position in heavy industrial environments.

Must have any experience: (i) leading engineering teams and/or project teams; (ii) with business enterprise and project management tools; (iii) structural analytical and FEA software suites, including Revit; and (iv) performing design engineering in heavy industry (i.e., Metals, Midstream Oil & Gas, Refineries & Petrochemical and/or Utilities & Power Generation).

Must have EIT. Must obtain Professional Engineer (PE) License within two (2) years of hiring.

Must be willing and able to travel to client sites in the PA/NJ/Delaware area and support in-person walkdowns in other areas of Northeast region on an as-needed basis, up to 20%.
