Job Description

Insight global is seeking a highly skilled WebSphere MQ Engineer for a top IT consulting client. The candidate should have extensive experience in managing and integrating MQ solutions across various platforms. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in WebSphere MQ, particularly on z/OS, Unix, Windows, and iSeries platforms, and will be capable of handling complex integrations and troubleshooting tasks.

Skills and Requirements

· MQ Expertise: Must have 7+ years of experience with MQ on z/OS, Unix, Windows, and iSeries platforms, including both noncluster and cluster environments, with a focus on MQ Cluster design.

· Installation & Configuration: Proficient in MQ Manager/MQ Client installation, configuration, maintenance, SSL setup, QSG on z/OS, and clustering across multiple platforms.

· Upgrades: Demonstrated experience in upgrading to MQ v6 or higher.

· Infrastructure Design: Skilled in setting up and designing MQ infrastructure for large, complex integrations on z/OS, UNIX, and Windows systems.

· Setup & Administration: Experience in creating Queue Managers, Clusters, Queues/Shared in QSG, Channels, and managing their administration, monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and Dead Letter Queue handling, including best practices and change management.

· Troubleshooting: Advanced troubleshooting skills including analyzing MQ logs and trace files, opening IBM PMRs, collecting documentation (Must Gather), working with IBM, and driving problem resolution.

· Documentation: Ability to create comprehensive support documentation and written procedures for both routine and non-routine tasks.

· Coordination: Ability to coordinate MQ configuration changes, installations, and upgrades with application owners, including planning, scheduling, status reporting, and adhering to company change control procedures.

· Technical Knowledge: Expert knowledge of Cobol, Rexx, JCL, SMPE, Assembler, MVS Utilities, and ISPF.

· Integration Skills: Knowledge of the interaction of MQ with IMS, CICS, DB2, and distributed MQ Clients/MQ Connection Settings.
