The team you will be a part of
The Merchandising team develops marketing, merchandising and creative strategies and affiliated programs to promote the organization's products and services through the Internet or other digital channels to increase exposure to and business from the target audience.
This role in summary
In this position, you will inspire and empower the sales organization by leading go-to-market strategies for the Whirlpool Corp portfolio of Freestanding Cooking (ranges, Microwave hood combinations, and countertop microwave) products for Whirlpool, Maytag and Amana brands. You will collaborate with sales, trade customers, product development, brand and shopper teams to create winning merchandising strategies including assortment planning, pricing and promotional plans using category insights and data in order to drive breakthrough growth, market share, inventory optimization, and direct contribution margin (DCM) expansion. This is a fast paced and highly visible leadership role with P&L ownership.
Your responsibilities will include
Engage in trade facing presentations in collaboration with the sales team to pitch new products, make flooring and stocking recommendations, and deliver win/win go-to-market solutions on our brands.
Lead the promotional strategy and development for your category by meeting key deadlines, using forward planning & collaboration with sales and finance, inputting accurate forecasting assumptions to drive effective promotions measured by return on investment (ROI) analysis & post audits.
As the category subject matter expert, you will manage channel distribution and be responsible to manage channel conflicts while supporting sales distribution priorities (Re-imagine distribution strategy).
On a daily, weekly, monthly basis you will track performance for point of sale (POS) sell through data, retailer business operating system (BOS), market share, orders/shipments to forecast, dcm, inventory levels (Discontinued), product availability and in-stock metrics, and the competitive landscape (ex. price scrape data & new competitive product launches).
Drive the category financials using the price margin realization levers (pricing, allowances, mix) and volume drivers to drive category growth.
Create forecasts, building blocks for growth, and gap closure actions to drive towards category monthly and quarterly targets.
Approve all pricing and promotions for your category.
Minimum requirements
Bachelor's degree in marketing, business or related field
7+ years of relevant mix of sales, merchandising, product, brand, finance, operations and/or supply chain experience
Project Management experience leading cross-functional projects and/or workstreams
Preferred skills and experiences
Ability to build compelling business plans supported by competitive & financial analysis
Possess an in-depth understanding of trade channel selling processes and merchandising tactics
P&L understanding with strong financial acumen
Excellent presentation skills, experience in front of buyers is preferred
Exceptional communicator with impeccable interpersonal skills
Builds followership and can gain alignment across multiple functions
Proven organizational skills and acts with a sense of urgency to solve problems and meet deadlines
In-depth knowledge of products and brands, and supply chain/sales operations
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
