Kuehne+Nagel Site & Project Supervisor - Contract Logistics in Beringen, Belgium

As a Project Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all operational processes are thoroughly understood and streamlined before go live. One of your primary responsibilities will be testing the system to guarantee it functions seamlessly. Following the go-live phase, you will transition into the role of Warehouse Supervisor and ensure excellent functioning of the warehouse activities that fall under your responsibility.

Your Role

You focus on supervising the daily warehouse activities and strengthening all logistics processes related to them. The daily warehouse activities include inbound, put away, storage, picking, packaging, value-added services, and dispatch. The goods flow is largely automated. Together with various stakeholders, you ensure that the installation is optimally managed and maintained. As a Warehouse Supervisor, in the initial phase, you will be involved in the startup of this client and provide support. This means that you will be part of the team building the foundation for future operations (BAU). After completing the necessary training, you will set up and conduct various tests, implement green-level actions (using tools like PS, visual and process management, training plans, and skill matrices). In the second phase, you will be deployed to initiate BAU and train/guide the new crew.

Your Responsibilities

  • Project phase: Testing the system, process improvement and establishing standard operational procedures.

  • As a supervisor, you are responsible for ensuring operations by managing internal and external KPIs (SQCDEP) and coaching your foremen. You oversee your foremen and, together with them, are responsible for directing your team of warehouse employees. You guide your foremen in the day-to-day management of warehouse activities and the operation of automated processes, ensuring that they achieve the predefined goals related to productivity, safety, and quality.

  • You personally drive the operation toward achieving long-term objectives and act as the ultimate responsible authority for your team of warehouse employees. This involves setting clear objectives, daily communication, evaluations, training, accident analyses, and sick leave discussions.

  • To achieve optimal operations, you collaborate with the planning department, fellow supervisors, operations managers, and various internal support services.

  • You’ll be part of a motivated team with a continuous improvement culture. After completing your yellow belt training, you’ll lead and implement improvement projects and apply the 5S methodology.

  • Additionally, you’ll ensure compliance with safety rules through regular safety inspections, accident analyses, and safety communication. All of this aims to encourage our employees to actively contribute to a strong safety policy.

  • Initially, you’ll work day shifts during the client’s startup. Once the client is fully operational, the shift will switch to two shifts

Your Skills and Experiences

  • You are a strong leadership figure who translates operational KPIs into an efficient approach on the floor and ensures its implementation.

  • With your managerial experience, you know how to form and motivate a team to work toward a common goal. You can adapt to different situations and colleagues, and you’re open to changing your approach if needed.

  • Additionally, you are proficient in creating reports in Excel, handling warehouse management systems, and working with MS Office applications.

  • Your characteristics include drive, independence, and a problem-solving mindset.

  • Language Skills: Fluency in Dutch and English.
