Lead Teacher - Early Childhood ServicesBiddeford, ME – Children’s Collaborative -Early Childhood Services Preschool Program The Southern Maine Administrative Collaborative (SMAC) focuses on early intervention for children showing signs of increased behavioral, developmental or mental health issues. Children’s Collaborative offers services for children with autism, or similar developmental disabilities learn skills to help them function successfully in home, school and community.     Certification/License:

    State Certification as a Special Education Teacher. Maine DOE 286 or 282

    Education:

    Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.

Responsibilities of the Lead Teacher:

  • Attend IEP meetings as a special education consultant

  • Responsible for the overall operation of the classroom

  • Develop developmentally appropriate programing for each child's individual goals and objectives

  • Participate in IEP quarterly and provide appropriate documentation

  • Independently conduct assessments and support with the writing of educational plans for children enrolled in the program, with input and suggestions for modification

  • Provide direct care to children based upon individual education plan (IEP) and/or individual treatment plan

  • Set up, including preparing material and lesson plans, and maintain an appropriate learning environment

  • Attend and participate in required meetings, including, but not limited to, classroom and agency-wide

  • Follow written positive behavior support plans and support with training teachers on positive behavioral instruction

  • Have frequent collateral contacts with therapists and other members of the child's team
