United Health Services Diabetes Nurse Educator in Binghamton, New York

Diabetes Nurse Educator, UHS 93 Penn Ave United Health Services is seeking a Diabetes Nurse Educator to join our Diabetes 02 department at UHS 93 Penn Ave in Binghamton, NY. This position is benefits eligible.

Salary range:

$32.69 - $49.04 per hour, depending on experience.

Overview

Develops and provides one-on-one and group educational programs for patients with diabetes in the outpatient and inpatient setting based on the American Diabetic Association (ADA) guidelines.

Educates patients and families in health promotion and disease management.

Evaluates outcomes of the education provided.

Collaborates and leads patients, families, and all members of the health care team in coordinating patient care in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.

Promotes diabetes awareness within the organization and the community.

Assists to maintain credentialing of the UHS Diabetes and Endocrinology Center with the American Diabetes Association.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

Minimum Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing.

  • At least 2-year experience in health care setting with evidence of having obtained proficiency in those areas emphasized in the Registered Nurse curriculum.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in a walk-in/primary care/specialty care setting.

License/Certification

Minimum Required:

  • Current NY State RN license.

  • Documentation of current CPR certification required within 1 week of start of employment.

  • Certified Diabetes Educator within 2 years of hire.

Preferred:

  • Current Driver’s license.

  • Office specific- IE: Oncology Certification, Lactation Consultant, Wound/ Ostomy Certification.
