Position: Firefighter
Starting Pay: 15.50hr-16.50hr

JOB SUMMARY AND DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE WORK:
The purpose of this position is to respond to emergency incidents providing medical care, suppress fire, rescue victims, and perform other duties related to firefighting while working a 48/96 shift.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Compliant to departments SOP/SOG
Perform fire suppression duties
Perform ventilation duties
Perform salvage and overhaul duties
Participate in vehicle extrication duties
Participate in rope rescues
Participate as a team member during incidents involving Hazardous Materials
Respond to non-emergency calls from the public
Perform pre-incident planning
Perform fire hose and hydrant maintenance
Participate in public relations events
Perform inspections on fire and EMS apparatus and equipment
Perform duties assigned by the shift supervisor
Complete training under the Alabama Fire College
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen (18) years if age
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
Must have a valid drivers license
Must meet a minimum physical assessment
Must complete the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) within sixty days of hire.
Must complete a background check and drug test
Physical statement release signed by an Alabama licensed physician
Must meet the minimum standards of Firefighter I/II as set forth by the Alabama Fire College within one year of employment
Ability to respond off duty
