Job Description:

The Occupational Therapist provides direct patient services that may include identifying, evaluating, diagnosing, and treating. This position also provides indirect services including consulting, advising, teaching, and training patients and their caregivers.

  • As an Occupational Therapist at Platte Valley Medical Center, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinical team, ensuring our patients receive the best care by:

  • Competent Services: Evaluating patients upon initial encounter to determine the need for occupational therapy intervention and making referrals to other treatment team members as deemed appropriate. Planning occupational therapy treatment programs for each patient, based upon interpretation of evaluation results; interpreting evaluation findings for patients, families, and treatment team members.

  • Documentation and Monitoring: Developing realistic goals with patient input; explaining treatment plans and goals to patients. Implementing treatment or supervising treatment provided by Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants or occupational therapy students. Delegating routine care to supportive personnel as appropriate. Terminating occupational therapy services when patients have attained maximum benefit from occupational therapy; providing in-service education to members of the treatment team to ensure follow-through of treatment programs.

  • Communication: Evaluating, recording, and reporting on patients' progress for review by other members of the rehabilitative team. Communicating effectively with physicians, other members of the rehabilitation team, and others as indicated regarding treatment plans and patient responses to plans.

  • Environment Maintenance: Maintaining a clean and inviting work environment according to health department codes and facility standards.

  • Research and Development: Assisting in research initiatives as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy.

  • Current license as an Occupational Therapist in the state of practice.

  • Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year of experience in a setting serving the same age/type of patient population served by this facility or department.

  • Critical Care Experience, strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Hearing/listening, lifting, manual dexterity, pulling/pushing, seeing, sitting, speaking, squatting/kneeling, standing, and walking.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$37.46 - $57.80
