Your Role on Our Team:

Our Engineering Team is responsible to develop “Best-In-Class” products and manufacturing solutions with the highest level of quality. The Rapid Innovation Center Sr. Engineering Operator plays a crucial role in providing innovative solutions to some of the most challenging machining requirements in industry that support our product development teams. This role ensures that prototypes are made accurately, efficiently and timely to aid in data collection and decision-making, enabling Milwaukee Tool in maintaining its competitive advantage. As a Sr. Engineering Operator and member of the Rapid Innovation Center (RIC) at Milwaukee you will be responsible for creating new to the world prototypes, working with a driven team using industry leading technologies and equipment in a state of the art facility.

This is a 2nd shift position, 10 hour days Monday-Thursday, 1:30pm-11:30pm.

You’ll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:

  • Program, set up and operate conventional or CNC machine tools such as multi axis tool grinders, profile grinders, surface grinders, or other to create parts to necessary dimensions and tolerancing.

  • Select, mount, and dress grinding wheels, using knowledge of abrasives, super abrasives, grinding procedures, techniques, and shop mechanics.

  • Perform frequent changeovers for small quantity and custom orders.

  • Monitor feeds and speeds of machines during operation adjust as needed to ensure safety and efficiency.

  • Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine operational methods or sequences to produce products within tolerances.

  • Use hard gaging and/or vision measuring instruments to verify dimensions of first run part and finished parts to verify print dimensions and tolerancing.

  • Respond to problems with urgency by reviewing machine setup and process. Able to identify root causes and make corrections as needed. Confer with leadership or peers as needed to escalate potential issues.

  • Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition and practice good housekeeping of work area.

  • Review assigned work requests and communicate accurate time estimates of scheduled work to leadership.

  • Demonstrate effective and accurate communication to leadership and peers.

  • Must work effectively in team environment requiring minimal supervision and is a self-starting individual willing to take ownership and initiative for personal development.

  • Contributes to and drives organizational culture, goals, and objectives.

  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

  • Ability to travel 10% including international

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The TOOLS you’ll bring with you:

  • Minimum 5 years experience with grinding. Experience with tool grinding is preferred.

  • Must have good math and trigonometry skills. Must be able to calculate appropriate machine settings and adjust accordingly

  • Prior experience with complex grinding setups including but not limited to, jigs, fixtures, and other custom work holding

  • Must have experience programming & operating Walter, ANCA, Star, Schutte, Strausak grinders.

  • Experience with manual data input (MDI) and G & M codes.

Other TOOLS we prefer you to have:

  • Experience with Siemens, Fanuc and/or Numroto machine controls.

  • Knowledge of Solid Works, Mastercam, Tool Studio, Vector Cam or equivalent.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Knowledge of 5S Principles
