Affordable Housing : RiseBoro is involved in affordable housing projects, such as the Hunters Point venture, which includes 1,100 apartments and retail/community space. 80% of the units are permanently affordable or earmarked for seniors.

Candidates must have the required qualifications to be considered for the position. The salary offer will be based on the candidate’s experience in the exact or comparable position and additional preferred qualifications will be considered.

Purpose of Position : Education/Recreation Instructor – Computer position serves to mentor and support new and first-time technology users. The instructor will be responsible for developing lesson plans and activities for class and creating an atmosphere where all participants are engaged, have fun, are safe, and work collectively as a team.

Schedule: Monday – Friday (Part-time)

Location: On-site Brooklyn, NY

Salary Range: $29.86 per hour

Roles, Responsibilities and Essential Duties:

  • Excellent verbal and written customer service skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Must have genuine interest in helping first time users learn technology/computers.

  • Work independently and be a self-starter.

  • Be punctual, reliable, organized and efficient to run an effective class

  • Interest and ability to work with senior citizens and volunteers

  • Commitment to organizations mission, vision and values

  • Ability to understand the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities

  • Have a demonstrated commitment to supporting communities who have experienced systemic oppression and bias (e.g. people of color, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, justice involved persons, etc.)

    Required Skills/Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.

  • Associates degree in Technology preferred.

  • Minimum of one-year experience teaching computer classes with knowledge of and experience in teaching Word, Excel, Computer basics, digital platforms, photoshop, etc.

    Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Previous experience working with the older adult population preferred

    Part-Time Employee Benefits:
