Our Intensive Treatment Education Program offers specialized educational services for students who are diagnosed with Autism or a Cognitive Disability paired with a mental health diagnosis. There are two separate sites conveniently located in Lackawanna, NY, servicing students ages 5-21 who are residentially placed or are referred through their local school district's Committee on Special Education.

FULL JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary:
The Behavior Support Supervisor is responsible for hiring, training and supporting the Behavior Support Technicians. This person will oversee daily routine and program expectations for the safe, quality daily operation of the school as well as model and demonstrate the agencies values. This person will work in collaboration of other Building Leadership for the daily building supervision at the school site. They will interact with families as appropriate to ensure and promote open and effective communication.
Essential Job Duties:
The Behavior Support Supervisor must be able to successfully perform all essential functions of the position.
Lead and support the Behavior Support Technicians with collecting, organizing and maintaining data.
Supervise Behavior Support Technicians and other direct classroom support staff.
Assist with the hiring process for Behavior Support Technicians.
Complete daily staffing assignments.
Oversee the development and implementation of the school wide Classroom Behavior Management Plan (CBMP) and Tier 1 interventions.
Work with classroom team to complete the Student Support Information Sheet (tier 1)
Complete fidelity checks for proper implementation of tier 1 supports and data collection.
Maintain data for the school wide Classroom Behavior Management Plan and Tier 1 interventions.
Assist the classroom teams with making student referrals for tier 2 and 3 supports.
Train new hires and classroom teams on the school wide Classroom Behavior Management Plan and other necessary tier one interventions.
Functional knowledge of Restorative Practices and the willingness to use RP techniques when managing situations between staff or students.
Collaborate with the Behavior Support Consultant on student needs for tier 2 and 3 supports.
Support staff and students during crisis interventions.
Leads necessary training approaches and best-practice behavior methods for all staff.
Assist with the completion of reports as necessary.
Create an environment that is comfortable for being open and honest about views, feelings, and opinions.
Motivate and encourage during new challenges, changes, or difficulties.
Ability to objectively assess situations and interactions, and offer suggestions for growth and ongoing feedback.
Conduct all duties, responsibilities, and daily activities in accordance with current best practice and ethical guidelines requirements.
Any other duty as requested by your Supervisor.
Skills:
Accurately applies knowledge of treatment approaches appropriate to the physical and developmental age of clients served
Requires the ability to utilize computer systems and software necessary to perform position functions.
Requires effective oral/written communication and interpersonal skills for interactions with various individuals both internal and external to the program. Must be able to deal tactfully and effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Ability to prioritize and manage workload and deadlines.
Significant problem solving and diagnostic skills with the ability to quickly analyze situations and adopt an effective course of action.
Ability to handle stressful and sensitive situations in a professional manner.
Minimum Education Required:
Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Criminal Justice, Mental Health or related field
Preferred is a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, School Psychology or Mental Health Counseling
Minimum Experience Required :
At least 3-5 years in the development/implementation of classroom behavioral management plans and/or individual behavioral support plans with individuals who have developmental disabilities and/or mental health concerns using Function based strategies.
And
At least 1-2 years of supervisory experience.
License/Registration/ Certifications Required:
Valid NYS Driver’s License
Become a trainer in one of the program crisis curriculums (SCIP-R or Ukeru) within 1 year of hire

Physical Requirements:
The overall nature of the position is sedentary requiring little physical effort with occasional light physical exertion required. There is little, if any, exposure to environmental conditions.
