Duties Description Senator April Baskin is seeking a passionate, creative, and detail-oriented Social Media and Web Coordinator to join the team. Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Social Media and Web Coordinator will play a critical role in managing the Senator’s online presence, ensuring that her legislative initiatives, community engagement efforts, and key priorities are effectively communicated to constituents. Travel will be required throughout the district for key events from time to time. Access to a vehicle is recommended but not required. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of social media platforms, website management, and digital storytelling highlighting Senator April Baskin’s groundbreaking legislative work and commitment to serving the needs of NYS Senate District 63 which encompasses Buffalo, Cheektowaga, and Lackawanna.Key responsibilities in this dynamic role:Social Media Management:•Develop and execute a content calendar for Senator Baskin’s social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter (X), Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn•Provide oversight of bi-weekly social media series•Create compelling and engaging content, including graphics, videos, and posts, to communicate legislative updates, community events, and key initiatives•Monitor and respond to comments and messages on social media in a professional and timely manner•Track analytics to measure engagement and growth and adjust strategies accordingly.Website Coordination:•Update the Senator’s official website with the latest news, press releases, events, and resources•Optimize website content for accessibility and user experience•Collaborate with the Senator and staff to ensure accurate and timely posting of district information and legislative achievementsCreative Content Development:•Design graphics, flyers, and other digital assets to promote community events and legislative initiatives•Edit videos and create reels or short clips for social media platforms•Assist in drafting and proofreading written content, including newsletters and blogsCollaboration and Strategy:•Work closely with the Director of Communications and District 63 team to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all platforms•Stay updated on social media trends and best practices to enhance the Senator’s digital presence•Assist in brainstorming innovative ways to engage with constituents online and amplify the Senator’s mission

Minimum Qualifications •High School Diploma/GED required, some college in communications, marketing or related field preferred•Proven experience in social media management, content creation, or digital marketing•Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and social media management platforms (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer)•Familiarity with website management systems (e.g., WordPress, Squarespace) and basic HTML/CSS knowledge is a plus•Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously•A passion for public service and understanding of local/State government is preferred
