Jacobs Senior Transit Engineering Specialist Burnaby, British Columbia
We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Transit Engineering Specialist to join our Burnaby office. You’ll be working on exciting and engaging transportation projects for our public sector clients across Canada with a strong focus on the British Columbia market. You’ll be working in a hybrid arrangement from home and from one of our offices (Burnaby), with the expectation of occasional travel for client meetings and team meetings.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Lead transportation and transit planning and conceptual design projects
Confer with clients and relevant engineering discipline leads to determine project requirements, and develop scope, schedule and budget to meet client need
Coordinate with transit agencies, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure project alignment and support
Conduct traffic studies at micro-, meso-, and macro-scales to inform travel demand forecasting and operational performance of transit corridor
Conduct service planning and operations & maintenance cost analysis of transit solutions
Conduct best practice research, provide advice and prepare technical requirements for transit fleet procurement
Oversee environmental impact studies that will influence design of transit corridors (e.g., noise and vibration, cultural/heritage, archaeology)
Oversee the planning and conceptual design of transit corridors (e.g., transit priority infrastructure, road safety improvements, active transportation facilities, transit station interfaces)
Oversee preparation materials to support public/stakeholder engagement and participate in outreach activities to gather input and build consensus on solutions. Ensure materials accurately reflect technical requirements, while being clear and understandable by decision makers and general public
Conduct QA/QC in accordance with municipal/ regional/ provincial/ federal guidelines and standards
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities, challenges, and risks for clients
Represent Jacobs at industry events (conferences, webinars, etc.)
Maintaining and developing effective relationships with Clients. Positioning Jacobs through early game and end game proposal development to secure new work.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; or a degree in Planning with a Transit/Transportation focus
Licensed P.Eng. or Professional Planner (or ability to secure such designations within 6 months)
10+ years of relevant work experience in transportation (public or private sectors)
Strong communication, time management, writing (reports, proposals) in collaborative team Environment and self-directed
Proficiency in computer software programs, which may include Microsoft Office, Internet applications, econometric or transportation modelling, database management, and/or GIS.
Abitlity to utilize computer systems as a tool to effectively manage projects
Capable of managing multiple, high priority assignments
Strong interpersonal skills to develop good working relationships at various levels and to resolve problems
Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously
