Job Summary

Your responsibility in this position would be to offer specialized project field engineering expertise in various areas such as work planning and packaging, vendor/factory inspections, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection, field rectification and subcontract coordination. Your recommendations would ensure that all field engineering activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with ATEX (Atmospheres Explosible) and IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) standards. The Expert will assess and analyze equipment and systems for their compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and best practices, and provide recommendations to ensure safe and reliable operation in hazardous environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures that Black & Veatch is compliant with local/national safety codes, requirements, and standards within assigned area of responsibility.Ensures the Zero Accident Philosophy is incorporated into every aspect of project activities.Actively participates in safety programs.

  • Establishes and maintains contacts with client, partner (shipyard), supplier, regulatory bodies, project management, engineering, and field personnel.

  • Possess in-depth knowledge of ATEX and IEC (IEC 60079) standards related to electrical and electronic equipment used in explosive/hazardous atmospheres. Stay up to date with the latest changes and updates in the standards and regulations.

  • Assess and analyze electrical and electronic equipment and systems for their compliance with ATEX and IEC standards and provide recommendations for improvement to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.

  • Provide guidance and support in the design and installation of electrical and electronic equipment in explosive/hazardous atmospheres, ensuring compliance with ATEX and IEC standards. Review technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and calculations, to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.

  • Prepare technical reports, documentation, and recommendations for equipment and systems compliance with ATEX and IEC standards. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of compliance assessments, risk assessments, and training activities.

  • Provide technical support to projects involving electrical and electronic equipment in hazardous environments, including reviewing design documents, providing technical advice, willing to travel to attend supplier IEC inspections, able to attend site inspections as needed and participating in project meetings.

  • Review, comment and advise on vendor ITP’s.

  • Implement project specifications and procedures, applicable codes, and drawings to ensure that construction installation requirements are met.

  • Perform in progress and final quality and completeness inspections of Electrical, Instrumentation, and EEHA installation.

  • Manage Project EEHA Dossier (HAVD) and associated Inspection and Test Records.

  • Ensure completed work packages and ITRs are submitted to Turnover.

  • Adheres to safety and quality standards as appropriate for level of duties and accountabilities.

  • Supports continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements.

  • Participates in Mechanical completions walkdown.

Job Knowledge

  • Knowledge of systems, equipment, applications of methods, plant layout, materials, and computers for preparation of analyses and development of project deliverables within the discipline.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Familiarity with hazardous area classifications, explosion protection techniques, and risk assessment methodologies.

  • Experience in conducting training and education programs related to ATEX and IEC standards.

  • Knowledge of and prior experience in using procedures / guidelines to govern work activities is desirable.

  • In-depth knowledge of LNG processes, equipment, safety protocols, and industry standards.

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address complex technical issues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering preferred or Equivalent experience

  • Professional certification(s) related to ATEX and IEC standards, such as ATEX/IECEx Certified Person or similar experience.

  • MUST have 5-10 years of experience as a Field Engineer and Preferred candidate will have overall at least 10-15 years’ experience working on LNG, FLNG, FPSO facilities preferred.

  • Project Management, Value Based Management.

Additional Information

This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions, which may include: extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site, climbing ladders, working at heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), use of personal fall arrest equipment, walking and working on uneven surfaces, working in constricted and/or confined spaces, variable work shifts (e.g., day, night, weekends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, etc.), and work in inclement weather. Some lifting may be required. Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e., respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection, etc.). Candidates may be required to travel internationally for short-term business trips to meet project requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either an ABET accredited program in the USA or an engineering program, offered by a foreign institution, accepted as valid in the home country or the country in which the individual is practicing. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

• Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.

• Stand, Kneel, Bend, Stoop, Move, and Walk long distances in and around confined, cluttered places, and uneven areas.

• Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure.

• Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.
