  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills including public speaking.

  • Demonstrated experience creating and conducting training and development initiatives.

  • Familiarity with assessment and evaluation methods.

  • Ability and willingness to work occasional nights and weekends, as well as travel locally and within the United States.

SEAS Post-Baccalaureate Program

  • Manages the admissions process, including planning recruitment efforts, hosting information sessions, developing the admissions timeline, managing application files, supporting the selection committee, communicating with faculty and prospective students, and facilitating onboarding.

  • Develops, deploys, and coordinates programming in partnership with the Research Scholars Initiative at the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, the Harvard Quantum Initiative, and the Kempner Institute to support professional development and cohort building.

  • Manages program budget, including planning, reconciliation, and reporting.

  • Provides student advising through regular meetings to support students' academic progress and goals.

  • Develops, implements, and oversees program policies and procedures and manages/updates documentation.

  • Serves as the primary program contact and liaison, communicating regularly with stakeholders about timelines, priorities, needs, and strategic direction.

    SEAS K-12 STEM Programs

  • Develops the curriculum for the Harvard SEAS K-12 STEM programs.

  • Explores, initiates, and fosters relationships with schools, districts, and community-based organizations that support STEM education.

  • Develops and administers culturally competent STEM engagement programming for K-12 students and teachers to support curiosity, critical thinking, and skill building in collaboration with SEAS research groups, university partners, and external community groups.

  • Leads in ensuring compliance with Harvard’s youth protections guidelines, including the registration of SEAS programs, training staff, screening for responsible adults, program evaluation, and risk assessment.

  • Handles budget management, including planning, reconciliation, and reporting for this program.

    Stewarding Partnerships

  • Manages partnerships with Tribal Colleges, HBCUs, and other Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs), including developing agendas and organizing annual meetings, coordinating travel for Harvard personnel to partner institutions, serving as the first point of contact for partnership issues, and liaising with stakeholders at partner institutions.

  • Identifies and cultivates new partnerships with MSIs and community-based organizations that broaden participation.

  • Provides leadership and support for schoolwide efforts to enact recommendations from the Harvard and the Legacy of Slavery report as they relate to broadening access to academic and career pathways in STEM, including the Research Academic Exchange and successor programs.

    Additional Responsibilities

  • Establishes, deploys, analyzes, and reports on the assessment of pathway programs.

  • Convenes the group of SEAS Staff who participate in recruitment travel and manages relevant logistics, including booth and hotel reservations, coordinating graduate student participation, etc.

  • Assists with grant writing to support STEM pathway programs.

  • Assists with the 10-week summer Research Experience for Undergraduates, including recruitment, selection, onboarding, and development and deployment of professional development activities.

  • Assists SEAS ODIB’s efforts to create a more inclusive and welcoming community within engineering and applied sciences at Harvard and beyond.

Job Summary:

The Senior Program Administrator for Student Development will leverage school and university-wide resources as well as partnerships with Tribal and historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to develop sustainable pathways from kindergarten to the professorate that broaden participation in engineering and applied sciences in accordance with the goals of the SEAS DIB Strategic plan and the Harvard and the Legacy of Slavery Report recommendations. This job function includes a portfolio of programs that support K-12 teachers and students, undergraduates, post-baccalaureate students and graduate students, as well as post-doctoral fellows. In addition, the Senior Program Administrator is responsible for the strategic management and day-to-day operations for the Harvard SEAS K-12 STEM programs and the SEAS' Post-Baccalaureate program to ensure goals and objectives are met efficiently and effectively. This includes developing policies and procedures, monitoring performance metrics, supervising program staff—including students and temporary workers, managing budgets and resources, communications, and identifying and implementing solutions to issues. The Senior Program Administrator supports SEAS’ Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) summer programming, supporting recruitment, on- and off-boarding, as well as programming. The Senior Program Administrator serves as the liaison between the programs, university partners, and external audiences and works to continuously improve programs through strategic planning, quality assurance, and incorporating best practices.
