GE Vernova Controls Field Services Engineer in Campinas, Brazil

Job Description Summary

The Controls Field Services Engineer role is responsible for technical direction and safe site leadership of onsite installation, commissioning, testing and startup activities for GE Vernova Gas Power Fleet Control Systems. The job will require extensive travel to various client sites within the LATAM Region.

Job Description

The Controls Field Service Engineer develops practical and innovative ways to identify and meet goals. In this role you are responsible for work which is defined in scope, utilize your understanding and experience to execute business objectives, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.

  • Controls System migration and commissioning activities to be performed in GE Vernova Gas Power Fleet and not limited to Power Plants (Single & Combine – Cycle), Steam Turbines, BOP - DCS, Aeroderivative Turbines, Oil & Gas Mechanical Drive Applications with GE Controls systems.

  • Show-up individuality with less supervision in commissioning and service activities for GE Vernova Gas Power Turbine Fleet and DCS Control Systems. Should communicate clearly and follow the instructions from Site Lead or Site manager and perform the task with at most quality. Interact and assistance to the customer, user, and other GE Vernova field personnel in the operation, inspection, and repair of assigned product lines.

  • Perform on-site installation, Controls Systems & HMI upgrade migrations and equipment.

  • Perform unplanned/corrective maintenance and complete all necessary technical and business documentation on time and accurate. Comply with the integrity and compliance guidelines. Record keeping of day-to-day activities in digital forms.

  • Provide technical assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, calibration, commissioning & startup at customer's sites.

  • Knowledge to troubleshoot and provide onsite technical support for GE Vernova Gas Power Turbine Fleet Control Systems.

  • Maintain strong safety mindset to assure the executed work reflects the technical requirements within GE Vernova safety standards. Ensure all work is performed in accordance with the organization’s EHS and associated policies/procedures.

  • Ensure customer satisfaction with controls solutions, according to the metrics of service, terms, performance, and quality.

  • A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills. For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE Vernova. Explains technical information to others.

  • Provide single point of contact to the customer, customer team, and all other GE stakeholders.

  • Assist the Commercial team with technical support, site surveys and services scope definitions for tenders and other sales opportunities for services.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial automation, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering from an accredited college or university

  • Experience in power generation, industrial plant automation and Oil & Gas.

  • MkVi/MarkVie/HMI/Networking Control Solutions product experience. Able to perform the commissioning and start-up of machine with these configurations.

  • Strong knowledge in Communication Integration, Modbus Protocols, IEC61850, Profibus, DCS & PLC Based Controllers

  • HMI, Historian, System Interface Configuration & troubleshooting.

  • Ability to interpret and understand machinery mechanical and electrical system drawings and specifications.

  • Strong customer focus, interpersonal, and computer skills

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a dynamic, geographically dispersed team environment is required.

  • Spanish and English Spoken/Written, Portuguese (Native)
