The Global Technical Solutions (GTS) organization brings employees together across Collins that work on Electronic Computer-Aided Design (ECAD), Mechanical Computer-Aided Design (MCAD), Technical Publications and services supporting the authoring of technical documentation.

In this role, you will be responsible for the successful management of design support personnel and for ensuring the successful implementation of design processes and standards at multiple locations. What YOU will do:

  • Lead a team of technical ECAD designers responsible for the design and documentation of new or modified Printed Wiring Boards (PWBs) or Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs)

  • Develop a skilled team of designers and drafters capable of meeting the demands of the business

  • Monitor the performance of the team to identify areas of training, development, or tool/process improvement

  • Provide technical leadership and assist in training less experienced electrical designers and drafters to help them diagnose and solve problems and to build capabilities.

  • Lead the discipline strategy for skills development providing results on team capability growth.

  • Oversees the staff responsible for the design, documentation and checking of new or modified Printed Wiring Boards (PWBs) or Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs)

  • Support the development of tools and workflows used to develop CCAs and manage the work in process

  • Use highly developed technical knowledge and project management skills for project planning budget management to ensure that projects are completed on-time, within budget and according to defined goals.

  • Coordinate the preparation of business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets, and the financial terms and conditions of contracts to ensure that progress and performance can be tracked.

  • Direct recruitment, placement, and evaluation of your team to ensure the effective deployment of talent.

  • Oversee the functional management of direct reports including but not limited to career development and succession planning to meet the organization’s needs

  • Work with various business units on staff and project allocation dynamically.

  • Contribute to the development of next generation hardware design capabilities by developing new tools and process for the enterprise.

  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 10% of the time

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience

  • 2+ years experience in managing programs/projects within a highly matrixed organization including successfully managing a group of engineers/drafters/designers under technical guidance

  • Employee in Global Technical Solutions, effective January 2025

  • Electronic Hardware design fundamentals

  • Experience in managing programs/projects within a highly matrixed organization Experience in creating career development programs to ensure skills and performance of employees meet the organization’s current and future needs.

  • Previous experience working in the aerospace industry with working knowledge of industry standards.

  • 5+ years of design experience in the engineering field, in a product definition group.

  • Experience with electronics components, PCB Layout and electrical systems.

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
