Job Skills / Requirements

Utility Worker Position Job Duties:

Assisting Maintenance staff in,

o Performing routine maintenance, such as inspecting equipment, including motors and drives. Inspect and change belts, filters, and fluids, clean equipment as needed.

o Ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics, repair and parts manuals

o Troubleshoot simple mechanical and electrical issues as needed and plan repairs.

o Perform simple repairs and assist Maintenance in complex repairs and replacement of equipment and facilities.

o Place orders for parts for routine maintenance and repairs. Maintain an inventory of items needed for PM’s such as belts, filters, and parts used on a scheduled basis.

o Assemble and install piping, electrical and mechanical systems as needed with or without the assistance of a maintenance technician.

o Upgrade Lighting circuitry for better energy efficiency as needed.

o Assist in cleaning exterior buildings and facilities

o Repair or install fixtures such as counter tops, partitions, and furniture.

o Replace plumbing fixtures such as toilets, toilet parts, and faucets, repair leaks in piping

o Properly prep surfaces and paint areas neatly and timely

o Perform simple roofing repairs

o Test and treat water supply systems if needed.

o Perform facilities repairs to windows, doors and structures as needed.

o Knowledge and repair of all life and safety systems, sprinklers, fire alarms, and emergency lighting. Perform PM’s related to same.

Assisting Grounds Staff in,

o Small engine repair and maintenance of mowers and various equipment

o Sharpening mower blades

o Mowing, weeding, trimming, and blowing as needed

o Trash collection if needed

o Storm clean up

o Furniture moving and assembly

o Sports field maintenance, field lining, repairs to structures as in dugouts, fencing, and benches

General Duties,

o Must maintain all work orders assigned including time worked and detailed comments on work performed

o Must complete all required safety and skill training as required.

Ability to reach, bend, stoop, wipe, push and pull.

The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 25 pound on a frequent basis, up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.

Extensive walking and standing for the duration of the shift.

Must have sufficient mobility to perform assigned tasks with production and service time frames as established by the company.

Ability to work with various temperatures extreme from hot to cold.
