IWCO Direct Supervisor of Facilities and Maintenance in Chanhassen, Minnesota

Description Overall Summary: The Supervisor of Facilities and Maintenance will maintain the facility equipment as well as maintain records and parts inventory while ensuring all safety procedures and environmental safety policies are followed. Supervisory Responsibilities: The Supervisor of Facilities Maintenance will lead the facilities maintenance team. Primary Duties/Responsibilities: Secure and coordinate related services with staff, vendors, or outside organizations (subcontractors) including but not limited to, housekeeping, heating-ventilation-air condition, structural and cosmetic repairs, compressed air, electricity, water, sprinkler systems, fire alarms, security, snow and ice removal, trees, lawns, shrubbery, trash removal, power equipment, chargers, and maintenance of all building safety features; solicit proposals from alternative service providers where appropriate and make recommendations for optimal selection. Liaison to local municipalities and fire safety representatives. Track and log all repairs and services to include, date of request and date repaired, requestor name, time spent on repair, maintenance, associate or contractor responsible for repair and material costs. Report monthly activity. Take an active role in company-wide OSHA/EPA safety efforts. Assist with inventory/asset management and the overall budgeting process. Assist manager in the department's planning and budgeting process. Maintain records of department activities, purchases, and policies and procedures. Follow strict Lockout/Tagout procedures when servicing equipment as well as all Safety rules and guidelines. Perform electrical and/or mechanical troubleshooting and repairs in response to equipment errors or failures. Repair and maintain sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment. This includes conveyor systems, hand tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments. Schedule periodic preventative maintenance on all applicable facility related equipment, using internal staff, OEM vendor, or third party vendor as necessary. Keep equipment running and tuned. May be asked for assistance in the operation of equipment and/or help with deliverables. Participate in the Lean Continuous Improvement Culture. Carry out the implementation through Kaizen instruction or continuous improvement events. Maintains a good rapport with vendors, contractors, and co-workers. Assist with machine guarding and must ensure that all meets OSHA standards. Make complete inspection of HVAC, building equipment, and its mode of operation at the beginning of each shift and as required. Liaison to building equipment support vendors and/or provide necessary maintenance and repairs to all building equipment such as air compressors, pumps, reducing stations for compressed air, HVAC units and distribution piping systems for these facilities. Maintain general upkeep in and around facility in keeping with building standards. Coach and develop their direct reports, conduct performance reviews, and manage their team's time off and attendance. Perform other (or other related) duties as applicable or assigned. Required Skills/Abilities/Competencies: Fundamental English reading and writing skills. Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in manufacturing field or business a plus. 3-5 years' industrial facilities maintenance experience. EPA Universal certificate required. 10 years' maintenance/mechanic experience preferred. 2+ years' proven supervisory experience in a manufacturing capacity, preferably with a background in the direct mail industry. Previous participation on a safety team and/or other safety training preferred. Possesses project management toolbox. Lean/Six Sigma experience a plus. Physical Requirements: * Ability to work 8-hours consecutively. * Ability to work overtime when needed. * Ability to maintain an active physical presence on the production floor. * Standard c imate-controlled production environment; exposure to loud noise (PPE is provided). * Ability to lift, carry and push/pull up to 50 pounds.
