We are currently seeking a dedicated Quantitative Risk Analyst Mid-level to participate in Hiring Our Heroes (HOH) Fellowship Cohort 24-3 with USAA. The HOH Fellowship Program builds an extraordinary experience for transitioning service members, veterans, and military spouses that increase competitiveness and improve opportunities to find relevant employment by providing development, skills, and exposure to corporate working environment and private sector business operations. HOH Fellowship Programs are best-in-class workforce development programs that are cohort based and twelve weeks in duration.

As a participant in the Military Fellowship Program, we understand that in most cases Fellows are ending their active service commitments and actively relocating. Therefore, while participating in the Fellowship program, Fellows are authorized to work remotely. If selected for full time employment, we offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, and Charlotte, NC. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Provides model risk management support enterprise wide in risk identification, measurement and aggregation, and the understanding and management of risk through appropriate quantitative and analytical practices and processes. Leverages quantitative and analytic methods, assessments and/or applications in support of risk management efforts that assess and identify risks and gaps in existing or proposed processes. Monitors the risk and control environment to ensure that exposures are kept at acceptable levels and may consult on risk mitigation plans. Produces board and committee reporting on significant model risk, from individual models and in the aggregate, and on compliance with policies and standards.

The Opportunity

What you'll do:

  • Uses advanced analytics to assess future risk, opportunities, and effectiveness and translates results into relevant solutions to enhance decision making.

  • Assesses and mitigates exposures through the identification of key and emerging risks in alignment with the risk strategy and appetite.

  • Applies knowledge to produce analytical material for discussions with cross functional teams to understand complex business objectives and influence solution strategies.

  • Produces and communicates analytical content for discussions with cross functional teams, governance committees and business process owners to influence business strategies.

  • Measure and aggregate model risks, and/or report on model issues to committees, auditors, and regulator

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, or other quantitative subject area or 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

  • 4 years related quantitative analysis experience in a subject area relevant to risk management to include statistical analysis, modeling, mathematics or other quantitative team.

  • OR advanced degree/designation in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, or other quantitative subject area and 2 years work experience in a quantitative field relevant to risk management.

  • OR PhD in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, or other quantitative subject area

What sets you apart:

  • Current participant in the Hiring our Heroes Cohort 24-3 or a current contractor at USAA from the 24-2 HOH Non-direct cohort.

  • Python (preferred) or significant experience in another programming language and visualization tool (Tableau or Power BI) experience

What we offer:

Hiring Our Heroes Fellows are paid by the HOH program.

If selected for a full-time role, USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The hiring range for this position is: $89,990 - $172,000.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
