A Day in The Life of a Lighting Maintenance Technician

As a Lighting Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for performing lighting maintenance repairs for a group of grocery store locations in and around the Fayetteville, NC area. Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs facilities lighting components and electrical systems in accordance with SOPs (standard operating procedures), internal requirements, manufacturer's specifications and safety policies. Recommends purchase of maintenance tools, equipment and supplies as required. May assist lower-level technicians. This is a home-based position, and you would travel to your assigned accounts and maintain a monthly route. A company vehicle and all necessary tools and equipment will be provided.

  • Performs preventive and predictive maintenance on facility lighting equipment, including the lighting in coolers, cases, on the ceiling, inside offices and occasionally parking lot lights through use of hand, pneumatic and power tools.

  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supply inventories by checking stock to determine appropriate inventory levels.

  • Prepares maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

  • Records and processes daily and weekly findings of maintenance duties on maintenance log.

  • Ensures compliance with OSHA and other regulatory agencies.

  • Identifies root cause of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation.

  • Responsible for performing lighting maintenance repairs on outlets, wiring, fixtures and will most often be working with 120v and 277v but can be up to 480v

  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.

Education & Experience

  • High school degree or equivalent required

  • 5 years of service and maintenance of electric machinery required

  • 2 years of facility repair and maintenance experience required

  • 2 years of handling high voltage test equipment required; 5 years preferred

Skills & Requirements

  • Proficient in mechanical calibration

  • Ability to read and work from blueprints and sketches

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to be on your feet for extended periods

  • Background in electrical maintenance

  • Good driving record and valid driver's license
