Summary

Manages strategic oversight and operational performance within the Behavioral Health service line including, but not limited to inpatient behavioral health nursing , crisis intervention team and service line development to include outpatient services. Provides leadership, guidance, and direction in achieving outcomes consistent with organizational mission, goals, and objectives. Assumes leadership responsibility for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinically effective and efficient systems of care and service within the continuum of care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities These duties and responsibilities described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis; other tasks may be assigned. • Responsible for both clinical and administrative functions related to behavioral health nursing. • Provides leadership, guidance, and direction in achieving outcomes and operational performance consistent with the mission, vision, and goals of Chesapeake Regional Healthcare. • Work collaboratively with physician partners assumes responsibility for the assessment, planning implementation and assessment of clinically efficient and effective system of care and service within the continuum of care. • This position will play a crucial role in the day-to-day operation of Chesapeake Regional Healthcare, serve on and numerous hospital initiatives and remain a constant for financial stewardship. • This position will also serve in a vital accreditation role for the hospital and service line. • Responsible for aligning marketing and public affairs objectives with the hospital marketing department, and execution of the agreed upon objectives. • Responsible for the recruitment, development, and retention of qualified managers for all assigned units/departments. • Responsible and accountable for the attainment of departmental goals and objectives, level of performance to ensure quality patient care, administration of personnel, and the fiscal responsibilities, which include operating and capital budgets. • Works collaboratively with physicians to adopt and incorporate quality initiatives, understand economic considerations, and increase physician/hospital alignment. • Develop a positive working relationship with the members of Administration, Medical Staff and Board of Directors. • Enhance assigned Manager's effectiveness through personal and professional development. • Develop policies, procedures, protocols, standards of care, performance improvement initiatives, staff training and recognition, and problem solving and resolutions. • Attend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-services. • Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient care. • Ensures that all services comply with all regulatory requirements and guidelines. • Operates assigned units/departments within established levels of financial performance.

Supervisory Responsibilities Reports to: Chief Operating/Chief Nursing Officer Supervises: Nurse Managers/Leaders for Behavioral Health Service Line to include crisis intervention team. Responsibilities: Development, presentation and management of assigned areas including budget and capital. Education and Experience Minimum Required Education: BSN, MSN required. Preferred Education: Master's Degrees in relevant field preferred or to be obtained within 2 years of date of hire.

Experience: Minimum of 4 years of leadership experience in a complex healthcare system required. Exhibits a solid background in basic management principles and practices including: • Medical staff relationships • Marketing • Health Planning • Finance • Construction Project Management • Communications and interpersonal relationships • Ancillary health agencies at a local, state and national level

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Must be a Registered Nurse licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Magnet recognized national certification, in clinical specialty or nursing leadership, required or to be obtained within one year.
