Chesterfield County Human Resource Management Maintenance Worker in Chesterfield, Virginia

[Maintenance Worker *[General Services *[Hiring Range: $18.03 - $21.19 *[Deadline: 11:59 p.m. July 7, 2024 [Chesterfield County Government is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform ground maintenance tasks such as weekly lawn maintenance by operating a lawn maintenance equipment such as a zero-turn mower, a trimmer, and a leaf blower. Also, perform other landscape maintenance work such as litter and leaf removal, mulch application, minor tree work, plant installation, and minor construction. Occasionally work along with Sheriffs workforce crew doing similar tasks. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers and to be able to work alone or as a team. Considered essential personnel in adverse weather and emergency events. Perform other work as required.[PLEASE NOTE:Position open until filled (first review to begin June 17, 2024.[This position is part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) and offers career progression opportunities and salary incentives, as funding permits, based on performance, qualifications, and experience. [Successful candidate must be 18 years or older. High school diploma or GED; 2 years experience in grounds maintenance preferred; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience in safely operating heavy equipment is preferred. Good oral/written communication, interpersonal, safety, and organizational skills are required. Ability to read and interpret manuals, specifications, and maintain accurate records. Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather while performing physically demanding work including but not limited to, standing, and sitting for prolonged periods, squatting, stooping, bending, twisting, stretching, carrying, and reaching overhead. Must be able to regularly move/lift 50 pounds and occasionally move/lift 100 pounds. Ability to operate and maintain specialized tools used in grounds maintenance and related building trades. *[Current valid drivers license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required. This position is considered Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
