The Ceded Reinsurance Team of Everest Insurance, a member of the Everest Re Group, Ltd. is looking for a paralegal to assist the Lead Contract Attorney with contract completion and a variety of projects designed to streamline the contracting process to join our Chicago office.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Work closely with Lead attorney to obtain fully executed Interest and Liability Agreements that accurately codify subjectivities agreed with reinsurers at binding
  • Oversee Confidentiality Agreement process under supervision of Lead Attorney
  • Maintain accurate and organized documentation of reinsurance contracts, amendments and related agreements and correspondence
  • Create, organize and maintain subjectivity tracker by reinsurer for easy reference during contract negotiations
  • Work with Lead attorney to create and maintain database with required contract clauses by affiliate country
  • Work within Ceded Reinsurance Contracts team to track regulatory and contractual deadlines and respond to internal and external requests for documents
  • Stay informed about changes in relevant laws and regulations

Qualifications, Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • Proven experience as a Paralegal
  • Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong understanding of insurance and/or reinsurance concepts, terminology and industry practice
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in legal research a plus

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:

Ideal candidate will be able to work independently and take ownership for accurately completing contracts per instructions from lead attorney yet also work as part of a team to complete important projects that will assist the Ceded Re Team in streamlining its contracting process. Superior organization skills are must to manage high volume work load.
