Responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of telecommunication and network equipment throughout the UC Health environment. Must operate and test telecommunication and network equipment to ensure proper function and perform customer service functions as needed.

  • Minimum Required: High School Diploma or GED.
    • Preferred Degree: Associate degree in IS&T or related field. Business or Computer Science.
  • 3 Years of installation/maintenance of IP, PBX systems or network devices is required
    • 5 years preferred.

Maintenance and monitoring:

  • Investigate and then organize information for successful MAC (move, add, change) completion.
  • Communicate regularly with Network Services Staff to resolve/rectify work orders and to help prevent future problems.
  • Document all activities concerning work orders and MACs and direct requests for service from customers to the Service Desk.
  • Monitor Work Order queue to query, report, and close calls.
  • Monitor uninterruptible power supply systems.
  • Monitor and resolve station and or telephone system alarms.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve wireless issues including phones, headsets, and computers.
  • Troubleshoot Microsoft Teams telephone issues.
  • Act as Tier 1 and 2 for the cellular reinforcement.
  • Conduct network closet rounding by keeping the areas clean and report any environmental issues.

Customer Interface:

  • Attend planning meetings on new projects for information gathering and telecommunications input.
  • Provide customer training concerning telecommunications and network equipment and services.
  • Act as the on-site representative for vendor repair of existing equipment as well as the installing of new equipment and/or services.
  • Provide guidance to cabling vendor and location of new drops.
  • Coordinate return of malfunctioning equipment with vendor representative.
  • Provide expertise to customers with respect to service needs and/or telecommunications capabilities.

Installation and repair:

  • Work with Voice and Network Support staff, UC Health department representatives and vendors as necessary to provide technical support with the installation, upgrade or repair of new/existing systems within the Alliance.
  • Test, install/deploy telecommunications hardware and software.
  • Monitor and maintain records regarding installation and repair of telephony systems and/or equipment.
  • Follow installation and inventory guidelines of the telecommunications department.

Bench Stock and Safety:

  • Monitor spare telephone, circuit card and repair parts levels to maintain required amount.
  • Monitor office supplies, forms, number strips, telephone labels and instruction cards to maintain required amounts.
  • Monitor loaner phones (speaker, TTY) to ensure ready availability.
  • Maintain Switch room/Wiring closet and data center housekeeping.
  • Comply with all UC Health and departmental safety standards with respect to equipment and job performance procedures.
