TheEmergency Department Technician (ED Tech)as part of the ED Team, will perform a variety of functions in support and care of patients requiring urgent or emergent care in an emergency medical setting. The ED Tech will assist and/or provide care for Outpatients presenting to the ED.
JOB DUTIES:
- Promote the mission, vision and values of CRMC
- Assist with patient room placement, transfer and discharge
- Patient Triage (must be Paramedic or RN)
- Placing patients in hospital wear
- Assist patients with personal hygiene, feeding, positioning, toileting and ambulation
- Collect patient specimens as ordered, including blood specimen collection
- Initiate, Maintain or discontinue Intravenous or Intra Osseous access
- Administer medications
- Respond to patient call lights and requests promptly
- Accompany patients to procedures off the unit, as needed
- Advise nursing or provider, of changes in patient condition
- Assist in obtaining and monitoring vital signs
- Perform EKGs
- 1:1 patient attendance when needed
- Outpatient cares (non-ED) Including infusions, dressing changes, wound checks and suture removals
- EMS radio operations
- Transporting patients using stretchers and wheelchairs
- Clean and change linens, as needed and after the patient has exited the room
- Empty full Linen and Trash receptacles
- Stocking, including rotation, and checking expiration dates
- Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of patient information (HIPPA)
- Documentation in Electronic Health Record using MediTech
- Participate in meetings and in-services, including hospital education
- Know and follow department and hospital Policy & Procedure, safety and infection prevention

ED TECH REQUIREMENTS:
- Successful completion of the orientation process
- Proficient computer and typing skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills in teaming with Patients, Physicians, Nurses and the public
- Detail oriented with ability to multitask
- Able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed
- Maintain certifications as required by CRMC policy
- Professional appearance and ability to develop rapport with others
- Available to work shifts after hours, weekends and public holidays
