Job Title: Forklift and Machine Operator
Job Description
Employees will work 45-50 hours per week. They will be responsible for loading and unloading tanks, dumping, sanitizing, frying, and pressing. Employees will rotate through different positions within the plant.
Responsibilities
Load and unload tanks
Dump, sanitize, fry, and press materials
Operate various machinery and equipment
Troubleshoot mechanical issues
Rotate through different positions within the plant
Essential Skills
Forklift operation experience
Ability to operate a computer
Familiarity with HMIs
Mechanical troubleshooting skills
Experience in production line and machine operation
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Must be able to work 2nd shift (3pm-11pm) or 3rd shift (11pm-7am)
Union shop experience is a plus
Must not have had more than three jobs in the last three years

This is a union position with a pension, offering the opportunity for growth both locally and at other sites. Employees can move to other states and still work within the organization. Additionally, new steel toe boots are provided as often as needed. After six months of employment, employees will receive an additional $1 per hour for every hour spent training new hires.
Work Environment
The work environment is both indoors and outdoors in all climates and can be very smelly due to the presence of animal carcasses. The plant operates with a small, close-knit team consisting of 13 operators and 7 office personnel. Employees will work in a union shop under Local 655 - United Food Workers, with shift bids changing every three years unless a position opens up, prompting a re-bid.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East St Louis, Illinois.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.44 - $23.44/hr.
